How to play BlindSpot
A game of BlindSpot takes about 20–40 minutes. Here is everything you need to know before you take office.
1. Choose your country
Pick any real country and enter the name you will rule under. The AI builds your starting situation from that country's real economy, institutions and neighbours.
2. Declare your origin
Who carried you to power — the army, a mass movement, the technocrats, the radical left or right? Pick a faction or write your own background. Your origin decides who backs you and who is already sharpening the knives.
3. Read the front page
Every turn starts with a newspaper: the crisis of the day, written for your country and your choices so far, with a news photo of the scene.
4. Sign a decree
Choose one of the proposed responses or type your own decree in plain words — tax the rich, devalue the currency, call early elections, negotiate with the strikers. Custom decrees spend political capital; measured choices rebuild it.
5. Face the fallout
The simulation applies the consequences: your three resources move, your five tracks shift, advisors react, and some effects only land a few turns later. Opportunities and major events can change everything.
6. Survive — or be judged
Keep the Human Engine, Supply and Hard Currency above zero. If one hits zero your regime mutates; leave it there and the state falls. When your rule ends, you receive a historical verdict you can share.
Tips from the first hundred presidencies
- Watch the resource that is falling fastest, not the one that is lowest.
- Free-text decrees are powerful but cost political capital — don't spend it all in your first five turns.
- Your cabinet disagrees for a reason. Read both sides before you sign.
- THE SYSTEM targets your habits. If you always choose security, expect the next crisis to punish it.
